Disney has the most magical parades! At the Magic Kingdom they have two parades. At 3pm is the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade and it is so much fun! I was always one to skip the parades and take advantage of the lighter crowds in other areas of the park but now that I am a mom of 3 I can’t wait to get a front row seat and watch the parade with my ki
We typically head down to Main Street around 2:15pm and get a spot at the end of Main Street closest to Cinderella’s Castle near a garbage can. (You can’t imagine how much garbage we make plus its a great time to clean out the stroller from accumulated junk.) While I wait with the kids my husband goes to the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor to get us some ice cream. This restaurant is located on the Tomorrowland side of Main Street on the corner. Basically everything is available as a snack on the dining plan. Then we sit, relax, eat our ice cream, and wait for the magic to begin.
The parade includes dancers, characters who greet the guests on foot as well as characters on floats. All of this is set to exciting music. Getting there early to get a seat on the curb really pays off when the characters walk by and greet you. My son got to give a high five to Abu from Aladdin.
What makes the parade even more magical is the attention you get from the characters. Even the characters on the floats are waving at you and can hear you. When they wave they are not just waving at the crowd but looking at the kids and waving to them. Often I will hear my kids or the kids around me say,”Ariel waved at me”.
One of the magical moments on this trip was when we saw Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. I was surprised to see them and so were all the little girls around me. They were all yelling, “Rapunzel”. Well, I felt bad for Flynn Rider who was being ignored so I yelled out, “Flynnnnn!!!”. He heard me and leaned over the float and gave me the smolder. I was so impressed with the look he gave me. It was EXACTLY like his look in the movie. I can’t believe how perfect it was. I acted all impressed and a little faint and he waved his satchel at me to cool off. I guess Rapunzel was jealous because this is the look she gave him. The whole thing was so funny. I wish I had a video camera going.
So the next time you are at the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade at Magic Kingdom get there a little early, get a good seat, and enjoy. Call out to your favorite characters and enjoy your interactions with them. Share some of your magical parade moments in the comments. We would love to hear from you.
