It is a new year and there is a lot of excitement we are expecting this year in the world of travel. There are both new travel requirements and new experiences coming this year. If you plan to travel in 2026, be sure to read this article about this year’s travel trends.
New Regulations for 2026
Real ID

We have been hearing about Real ID for quite a while now. It is currently in full effect. This means you will need to show a form of Real ID at the TSA security checkpoint when traveling on a domestic flight. You can use a valid passport, a driver’s license or state ID with the Real ID designation of a star. For the most up to date information or how to get a real ID you can visit the DHS website for Real ID. If you do not have a Real ID there are options to pay for additional screening beginning Feb 1, 2026. You will have to pay before you head to the airport and show your receipt at TSA checkpoints. You still may have additional screening so be sure to leave extra time. Our recommendation is to get your Real ID in order now so you are ready to travel in 2026.
United Kingdom Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)
This program is now in effect for travelers to the United Kingdom (UK) that will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). This requirement applies to US citizens, Canadian citizens, and many non-European passport holders. You will need this authorization both for traveling TO the UK or traveling THROUGH the UK. For Example, if you have a flight connection in Heathrow, London, you will need to complete this authorization. We recommend this even for connections. We have had travelers miss connections and have to spend the night in London and it makes everything easier when your paperwork is already in order.
Keep in mind this is for all of the UK so that includes travel to England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, as well as UK Overseas Territories. It can take a few days to process, but it is valid for 2 years or until your passport expires (whichever is shorter). Everyone needs to complete this process, including children and babies.
The best way to apply is through the app, but you can get more information on the ETA Website too. You will need a passport, personal contact details, travel information, accommodations, and selfie photo.
EU Travel Authorization – ETIAS
Currently postponed to 2027, U.S. citizens visiting 30 European countries (members of the EU) will need to apply online for travel authorization through the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS). It is currently scheduled to start operations the last quarter of 2026 so you can apply for travel in 2027. More information to come on this.

To get all the details and how to apply you will want to visit the official ETIAS website.
New Destinations for 2026
There are also some really exciting new destinations opening in 2026 that will influence this year’s travel trends. Here are a few we are most excited about.
Treasure Beach Village at Beaches Turks and Caicos
This all new village is opening March 1, 2026 and we are thrilled. This new village is located on the other side of the Caribbean Village. It will have 11 new villa and suite categories. These rooms are built with families with bunk beds for the kids. There will also be a new pool area that includes cabanas, Starfish Cinema and some new slides at the infinity-edge lagoon pool.
In addition to all the amazing dining at this resort, this new area will add 7 new dining options that can be enjoyed by EVERYONE on resort. The Treasure Beach Village is a great addition to this property so whether you want to stay in this new area, or you already have a favorite area on resort, you can enjoy the new pool, beach, and dining areas.
Cool Kids Summer
Walt Disney World is bringing back their Cool Kid Summer 2.0 this year. We know the summer is a great time to travel to Walt Disney World when it comes to crowds, but we know it is hot. Well, with Cool Kids Summer, Disney is offering special offers, new experiences to help you stay cool, and more fun than ever.
New Cruise Ships and Experiences
There are lots of new cruise ships and experiences coming in 2026. Here are a few of the ones we are most excited about.
Royal Beach Club Paradise Island
You may have cruised to Nassau, but not like this. This new destination that just opened December 2025 is only for Royal Caribbean guests. This private beach club has pools, beaches, parties, relaxation, cabanas, food, drinks, and more. Walk to your water taxi right from the pier and spend a day in Bahamian paradise.
Coming later in 2026 will be Royal Beach Club Cozumel and Royal Beach Club Santorini. So many amazing reasons to cruise with Royal Caribbean in 2026 and beyond.
Legend of the Seas
Speaking of Royal Caribbean, they will have another new ICON class ship (#3) coming summer of 2026 to Europe and then moving to Fort Lauderdale November 2026. Now is the time to get this amazing ship booked.
Norwegian Luna
This will be Norwegian Cruise Lines’s second ship in the new Prima Plus Class. It will start cruising in April 2026. It will also feature a special show “ELTON: A Celebration of Elton John”. It will be sailing from New York, Miami, and even Rome.
