The Story Behind Magical Memory Planners
My love of travel started before I can even remember.
I was just seven months old when my parents took me to Walt Disney World for the first time. Of course, I don’t remember that trip, but it was the beginning of a family tradition that would shape my life in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
Every year, my parents, my brothers, and I would pack up our camper and head to Disney’s Fort Wilderness. We’d spend our days exploring the parks and our evenings together as a family.(They had the campfire sing-a-long even back then). When I think back on those childhood vacations, the individual trips almost blend together into one wonderful collection of memories.
What I remember most isn’t a particular ride or attraction. It’s the feeling of being together.
As I grew older, travel continued to be part of my life. My husband and I took our first trip together on our honeymoon, and we made it a priority to travel every year. Those trips gave us time to step away from everyday life, experience new places, and create memories together.
Then we started our own family, and travel took on an entirely new meaning.
I spent much of my first pregnancy planning our daughter’s first Disney vacation. When she was just six months old, we took her on that first trip. And just like my parents had done for me, we began building our own family traditions.
We went camping, took cruises, visited theme parks, explored new destinations, and continued traveling as our family grew.
My husband had to work a lot when our children were growing up, and those vacations became especially important to us. They were our opportunity to put the phones and work away, step outside our busy routines, and simply enjoy being together.
We watched our children learn to swim, try zip lining, interact with dolphins, discover new foods, meet people from around the world, and find the courage to try things they’d never done before. We laughed together and worked through frustrations. We solved problems, explored unfamiliar places, and learned more about the world and each other.
Some trips were big adventures. Others were simple camping weekends or a day at the zoo.
But they all mattered.
Somewhere along the way, I realized that I wanted other families to experience what travel had given mine. I wanted to help people take the trips they’d been dreaming about, without feeling overwhelmed by everything it takes to plan them.
And that’s how Magical Memory Planners was born.
My children were just 3, 5, and 7 when I started the agency. As the business grew, so did our opportunities to travel, explore, and create memories together. Today, those same children are 17, 19, and 21. (fun picture below of our trip to Greece)
Not long ago, I found myself watching old videos from a family trip to Discovery Cove. There they were so much younger, feeding birds, and swimming with dolphins. Watching those videos brought back so many memories of our adventures together.
I sent the video above to my oldest daughter, and she told me she remembered that day and couldn’t wait for our next family trip to France. And in that moment, I was reminded of exactly why travel has always meant so much to me.
Those trips weren’t just places we visited or activities we checked off a list. They became part of our family’s story. They gave us shared experiences, inside jokes, lessons learned, and memories that still bring us together years later.
Now, as our children grow into adults, get married, and begin building families of their own, I look forward to seeing those traditions continue with the next generation.
Because the memories don’t end when the kids grow up. The relationships we’ve built through those experiences continue to grow and change with us.
