Booking your Disney Cruise

August 20, 2011 by Allison Sandberg

I love booking Disney cruises because I know my client will have an awesome vacation. There is so much to do on board Disney Cruise Lines for families and couples. Here are some pointers for booking your Disney Cruise vacation.

When to book:

Disney Cruise Line books up fast, especially for cruises during school breaks. I would recommend trying to book a year in advance if you have a specific time in mind. If you are more flexible you can always try and see if something is available about 6 months out. The best prices and room choices are available the earlier you book and if a promotion becomes available for your cruise it can always be added on.

Stateroom options:

There are lots of staterooms options from a guaranteed room to suites. If you are flexible about where you stay you may want to take a guaranteed room. This is the cheapest category and you cannot pick your room assignment. You will find out your room option when you get your final documents in the mail. We did this last time and were assigned deluxe ocean view staterooms.

If you have a family of 5 or more you can choose a deluxe family stateroom with an ocean view or verandah. Although, it may be cheaper to book two standard inside (adjoining) cabins. You won’t have the same view but you will have the effect of a suite with a separate bedroom for the kids and two bathrooms. We did this on our last cruise and I liked it much better than a larger single room. It was great for mid-day naps for little ones and bedtime.

I can price out the options and discuss your needs so that you get the room(s) that works best for your family.

Booking Requirements:

In order to book your reservation I will need the full name and date of birth of each passenger. Be sure to give me your legal name at is appears on your passport. You will also need to make a 20% deposit to secure the reservation. I can do a 7 day courtesy hold if you want to secure a room but need a few days before you make your deposit.

You may want to have me add flights, pre/post hotel stay, and airport transfers to your reservation. These do not need to be made at the same time as your cruise reservation. Sometimes its a lot to decide on everything at once. These can be added on later if you are unsure. If you are traveling with children then you may want your baby supplies delivered too.

Final payment will be due 75 days before departure.

Passport Requirements:

You will need to have a passport for every member of your party including infants and children. If you are planning to take a cruise you will want to take care of this as soon as possible because it can take a few months to complete the process and then you will not have to pay extra for expediting services. You will need 2 passport photos, an application, and a birth certificate with a raised seal. You can take all these to a passport location near you. Get the latest passport info here.

Special Extras:

All my clients will get a $25 stateroom credit per room for booking with me as well as an autograph mat to collect character signatures.
