Chefs de France ~ France Pavilion in Epcot
While visiting Disney for our Agent Education Program we had dinner at Chefs de France. There were 3 of us and we didn’t have a reservation. I checked in at the podium to see if they could seat us. I also let them know that one of us had a gluten allergy. It was roughly 8pm. They said we could have a table in about 15 minutes and true to their word we were seated quickly. We sat in the back by the windows facing the World Showcase Lagoon. I didn’t realized how great this table was.
Our server came quickly to get our drinks and confirm who had the gluten allergy. She said the chef would come to speak with us. It did take a little bit for the chef to come and in the meantime the waitress brought us some bread (both regular and gluten free). The regular bread was good but the gluten free bread was rock hard.
The chef came out to speak with us but since Debi wasn’t that hungry she opted for a simple house salad. Chef said the house vinaigrette was fresh made, described the ingredients and confirmed it was gluten free. He offered to make her several things on the menu gluten free but she declined.
The rest of us placed our orders. I had Bisque de homard (the lobster bisque) and Coquille St Jacques et crevette gnocchis Provencales (shrimp and scallops with potatoes). The soup came quickly was very hot, as soup should be, and very delicious. The scallops and shrimp were very good as was the sauce they were in. I didn’t care for the potatoes as much.
As we were finishing our dinner it was 9pm and Illuminations was starting. We watched it from our seats in the restaurant. It wasn’t an up close view and we couldn’t hear all of the music and effects but we enjoyed the comfortable view.
We finished our meal with no room for dessert so we relaxed and chatted while the park cleared a bit. Then we were able to take a relaxing walk back to the Disney’s Yacht Club Resort without all the crowds.
This location is 1 table service on the dining plan.
Overall we enjoyed the meal very much. I would have like to try the prix fixe menu since it also looked very delicious. Have you eaten at Chefs de France? What did you order? How did you like it?
