When AmaWaterways was founded in 2002 by three families, our goal was to create a river cruise company we ourselves would love. To us that meant excellent food and wine; ample space in which to relax and staterooms with maximum views to enjoy the ever-changing countryside; and a crew who goes above and beyond, treating every guest like they are part of OUR family.

They have amazing staff and the cruise director gets to know the passengers and makes sure all the excursions and activities run smoothly. The food is amazing and for something extra special you can enjoy a night at the chef’s table (also included in the cruise fare). Meet up with fellow passengers for sip and sail for an included cocktail hour before dinner and then enjoy local wine and beer with all your meals.

River Cruises for Families
If you are traveling with children you may want to look at Adventures by Disney River Cruises. These river cruises are a partnership between Adventures by Disney and AmaWateways. Disney takes over the whole ship and uses their adventure guides to plan and manage all the excursions and activities. These cruises are perfect for families with children ages 5 and up.

What can we say… Carla is GREAT! Carla has now helped us with a couple various Trips with this one being a European multi-country, extended trip. The initial planning was for the 7-day AmaWaterways Enchanting Rhine River Cruise commencing in Amsterdam and ending in Basil. As it has been on our wish list to make a trip to England, we extended our pre-cruise travels with 5 days in London and added additional days post cruise in Basil and Zurich. Carla worked with us through numerous variations and options numerous working to ensure our experience was as stress free and relaxing as possible. While the weather did not exactly cooperate, the trip went off smoothly. As it happens, Carla had convinced a number of her friends to join the Rhine River Cruise and completely included us into their close knit group having several “meet and greet” sessions before the actual cruise allowing us to become very acquainted before ever traveling together. What a great group of friends to have! Carla made sure all the individual travel plans were arranged and everyone enjoyed their combined and separate trips. To top it off, Caral and her husband Dave renewed their wedding vows while on the cruise and were gracious enough to include us in their ceremony and gathering of close friends. What a nice gesture and wonderful experience to be part of such close friends! She was exceptionally responsive to all our email questions, providing timely and thorough answers that made the booking process stress-free and very easy. The cruise itself exceeded all expectations. We especially loved the fantastic variety of excursions offered at every port, which gave us wonderful flexibility in exploring the region. A small detail that highlights the quality of the AmaWaterways experience was the availability of two different breakfast options—one for a quick bite before our excursions and a sit-down option for a leisurely meal. Carla kept our group informed of everything that was needed for our trip to Europe. then took the time to get us all together before the trip to make sure we all knew what to expect, how to pack, and make sure you had the right money. This took all the worry out of this trip, my first to Europe and also on a river cruise. Carla planned events for us, emailed us all on the "where and when's", all you needed to do was get there. She put herself out to made sure everyone traveling with her was safe, having fun, and knew everything that was happening. She will plan out next trip to Italy no questions asked.
