Disney Cruise Line is getting a brand-new ship, and the Disney Believe cruise ship is already giving us plenty to look forward to. Expected to debut in late 2027, the Disney Believe will become the fourth ship in Disney Cruise Line’s Wish Class. The ship will bring a new storytelling theme, new experiences, and beloved Disney stories to sea.
While there is still a lot we don’t know about this new Disney Cruise Line ship. However, Disney has already shared some exciting details about the Disney Believe. Including its theme, design, construction, and the stories that will inspire the onboard experience. So, let’s take a look at what we know about the Disney Believe cruise ship so far.
Disney Believe Joins the Wish Class
The Disney Believe will join three sister ships in the Wish Class: the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny. While the ships share the same Wish Class foundation, Disney designed each one with its own personality and storytelling theme.
The Disney Wish focuses on enchantment.
The Disney Treasure brings an adventurous spirit to the fleet.
The Disney Destiny explores the world of heroes and villains.
The Disney Believe will focus on promise and possibilities.
The theme celebrates people who believe in themselves, dream big, and pursue their own happily ever after. That idea will shape the Disney Believe from the moment guests step onboard. Disney plans to connect the ship’s spaces, entertainment, décor, and experiences through stories about characters who believe in themselves and their dreams.
What Is the Theme of the Disney Believe?
The Disney Believe cruise ship will center around the idea of believing in something bigger than yourself. Disney describes the ship as a celebration of magic, family, the power of nature, and believing in yourself. This theme gives the ship a different personality from the other Wish Class ships.
Instead of simply bringing familiar Disney characters onboard, Disney plans to use their stories to explore ideas about dreams, hope, courage, and possibility, and that feels like a natural fit for Disney Cruise Line.
Disney Stories Coming to the Disney Believe
Disney has already announced several stories that will inspire experiences aboard the Disney Believe. Guests can expect connections to: Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana and The Little Mermaid. These stories will influence new venue concepts and entertainment experiences throughout the ship.
While we don’t know exactly how every story will come to life yet, that’s part of what makes following the Disney Believe so much fun. As Disney shares more information, we’ll get a better idea of how these familiar stories will fit into the ship’s dining, entertainment, recreation, and guest spaces.
Disney Believe Cruise Ship Construction
One of the most exciting parts of following a brand-new Disney ship is watching it take shape. The Disney Believe is currently under construction at the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Disney has been sharing behind-the-scenes updates through the official Disney Believe Ship’s Log, giving future cruisers a look at the people and processes bringing the ship to life and the construction process is pretty fascinating.
Building the Disney Believe is like a giant 3D puzzle shipbuilders don’t build the entire Disney Believe as one enormous piece. Instead, they construct large sections called gigablocks. These massive sections include walls, plumbing, wiring, and other parts of the ship.
Once a section is complete, workers move it into place and connect it to the other sections. Some of these gigablocks can weigh more than 31,000 tons. The first of three gigablocks for the Disney Believe has already been completed and floated out of the shipyard.
That first section forms the midship, which includes the future Grand Hall. The forward section will follow, and the aft section will complete the main structure. It’s pretty incredible to think that these individual pieces will eventually become the Disney Believe cruise ship that families will sail on around the world.
First Look at the Disney Believe Grand Hall
Disney gave fans another look at the new ship during the Horizons: D23 Disney Experiences Showcase on August 15, 2026.
Claire Weiss, Portfolio Executive Creative Director, shared the first look at plans for the Disney Believe Grand Hall and revealed new details about the ship’s exterior artwork. The Grand Hall will give guests their first major introduction to the ship’s storytelling and design. While we don’t have all the details yet, the early look already shows that Disney is building the ship around its larger theme of belief, magic, family, and possibility.
Tinker Bell Takes Flight on the Disney Believe
One of my favorite details announced so far is the artwork planned for the ship’s bow. The Disney Believe will feature a delicate, hand-painted filigree of Tinker Bell, inspired by her original appearance in Disney’s 1953 animated classic Peter Pan. The design will also include silhouettes of Peter, Wendy, Captain Hook, and other characters from the film.
The characters will appear to fly through the swirling design surrounding Tinker Bell. It’s a beautiful nod to one of Disney’s classic stories, and it fits perfectly with the Disney Believe theme. After all, believing in something magical has always been part of the Peter Pan story.
New Experiences and Entertainment at Sea
Disney has promised one-of-a-kind venue concepts and entertainment experiences aboard the Disney Believe. That means guests can expect more than familiar characters and movie references. Disney plans to create new experiences around the stories that inspire the ship.
The result should be a cruise experience that feels familiar while still giving the Disney Believe its own identity. We also know that Disney Live Entertainment and Walt Disney Imagineering are part of the creative process. As the ship continues to take shape, we’re sure to learn more about the entertainment, stage shows, venues, and experiences planned for guests.
What We Still Don’t Know About the Disney Believe
This is where things get really interesting. Disney has shared the ship’s overall theme, several story inspirations, construction updates, and a first look at the Grand Hall and exterior artwork, but there is still plenty we haven’t seen.

When Will the Disney Believe Cruise Ship Debut?
The Disney Believe is currently expected to debut in late 2027. There is still a lot of time between now and the ship’s first sailing, which means we should see many more announcements as construction continues.
For now, we know the Disney Believe will be the fourth Wish Class ship, with a theme centered around promise and possibilities. We also know that Disney plans to bring new experiences to the ship while connecting them to beloved stories from Disney Animation and the larger Disney universe.
