Disney Genie+ was introduced in 2021 and was changed to Lightning Lane in 2024. In October of 2024 they announced a new product called, Lightning Lane Premier Pass. While confusing at first, we are here to help you navigate the crazy!

The first part of the is free and available to everyone who visits the Walt Disney World Resort and there is no change to this part. To access the this you will visit the My Disney Experience app. This is the same app that has been used to plan Disney vacations since 2013. You will want to make sure you have the latest version of the app to unlock all features.
Some features included on the My Disney Experience App:
- Real Time Wait Times and Show Times
- Restaurant Walk Up Waitlist, Check-in, and Reservations
- Merchandise Checkout
- PhotoPass Lenses
- Mobile Order Quick Service Dining
- Virtual Queues for Select Attractions (there are currently no virtual queues but these can come back when new attractions open)
Disney Genie Service
This is a complementary tool to help you keep tabs on your itinerary and share preferences. Start on the home page and select “Summon Disney Genie”. Then select “Start Now”. Then you can add some preferences you have to help you with recommendations and planning. It is best to do this after you book your trip and link your reservation on the website. This can help with recommendations and planning your trip.
Lightning Lane Multipass and Lightning Lane Single Pass
This is where the change is, Genie+ is now Lightning Lane and it is the paid feature that gives you access to the Lightning Lane’s. The Lightning Lanes replaced the old “fastpass lane” and gives you a shorter wait time for your favorite attractions.
There are two different products available that you can purchase to have access to the Lightning Lanes. They can be purchased separately or combined for your best Disney day. Check the chart below to see which rides are available with Lightning Lane Multipass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. Notice that attractions are not listed on both lists. For both options, onsite Disney hotel guests can purchase their lightning lanes for their entire trip 7 days in advance while other guests can begin purchases 3 days in advance. For all guests it opens at 7am and will be purchased in the My Disney Experience App.
Let’s dig into these two options a little bit further.

Multi Pass allows you to select arrival windows for Lightning Lane entrances. When you purchase your multipass in advance of your trip, you may select three attractions for each day of your ticket. Once you are in the parks, you can select another lightning lane each time you use one.
