Driving to the Magic Kingdom is an option for both guests staying outside the Walt Disney Resorts as well as guests staying on property. If you want to park hop or have a dining reservation at a resort other than your own you may decide to drive to the Magic Kingdom.
The parking lot for the Magic Kingdom is at the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC). If you are a resort guest be prepare to show your Key to the World card so that you won’t have to pay the $14 parking fee.
Once you get into the parking lot you will be parking in either the villains or the heroes lot. Be sure to make a note of what row you are in by taking a picture (ie Simba 14). There are two different tram stations as well so be sure to know if you are in the villains or hereos section. After you park your car and get your things together you will be going to the tram to get to the TTC.
One of the big mistakes I see is families loading up their strollers with all their things and then having to unpack it all a few more times before they get to the park. Try to carry what you can since you will need to close up your stroller to get on the tram. Sometimes I carry my child and just throw the bag in the seat of the stroller so its easy to pull out. Now that our kids are a little older we are able to just leave the stroller folded up and carry the bags until we get off the tram.
Once you arrive at the TTC you will need to purchase your tickets for the theme park if you don’t have them already. If you are going to go for several days then be sure to get a multi-day ticket to save some money. If you have purchased your tickets ahead you will want to go to the will call windows. If you have not purchased them yet you can go to any other window. You can also send just one person through the line to get the tickets to save your kids from waiting in line.
Next its off to the Magic Kingdom. You can either take the monorail or the ferry boat. Both options take the same amount of time. If you have a big stroller you will have more space if you take the boat and won’t need to fold up your stroller. The monorail will be able to handle strollers too but its a little tighter. Although you may put your bags on the stroller remember that you will have to show them at the security check at the Magic Kingdom still.
Tip: Carry your things and stroller until after you get off the tram at the TTC.
From the TTC you can also take a monorail to Epcot. If you plan to drive to Disney and hop between Magic Kingdom and Epcot you will want to park at the Magic Kingdom (TTC).
Have a magical day! In the evening when you are ready to go home you will go to the right for the heroes lot and to the left for the villains lot. Take a look at the picture you took in the morning so you know what row your car is parked in. Have a safe trip home and we hope to see you real soon!
