Packing Your Carry-On For Disney

August 12, 2011 by Allison Sandberg

There is so much to think about when packing, especially with airport regulations. So what do you need to bring with you in your carry on?

If you are traveling to Disney and using Magical Express you will need:

ID (license) for all the adults in your group (I usually travel with a copy of my kids birth certificates but have never been asked to show them). Keep in mind Real ID Requirements as of October 1, 2021.

Your Magical Express Document (yellow tags were put on all checked bags)

Magic Bands

The credit card you registered with during your Disney online check in

Bathing suits if you plan on swimming when you get to your resort

Important prescription medications – children’s Tylenol, vitamins, and anything else that is not crucial I would put in my luggage. Prescription medications I would carry on.

a 3 oz or smaller sun tan lotion (if you are going down late spring – early fall) to use on your first day

You can bring EMPTY kids cups/water bottles that you can fill AFTER you go through security to bring on the plane. As well as snacks that are dry (granola bars, goldfish, pretzels etc) Applesauce, yogurt etc are considered liquids.

DO NOT Pack:

Filled water bottles, snow globes, toys that contain any liquid, or toiletries.

Flying with a baby

If you are traveling with a baby that needs baby food or bottles they will usually allow a small amount of nursery water but will want to scan/test it. Allow yourself some extra time and tell them up front what you have for your child and why. They are usually understanding as long as you are upfront. When I would travel with my little ones I would put a couple 8 oz water bottles and the baby food I needed in a 1 gallon ziplock bag on the top of my carry on. When I went through security I pulled the ziplock bag out and put it through the x-ray machine. Everything was contained but visible to security without my stuff going all over.
