Saint Lucia is actually pretty far south giving it beautiful warm weather year round. They have more of a rainy versus dry season than a cold versus warm season. The island has lots of features such as mountains, called Pitons, some volcanoes, rainforests, and amazing snorkeling. It is a great island if you are looking to do all kinds of adventurous activities.
The three Sandals resorts – Sandals La Toc, Sandals Halycon, and Sandals Grande Saint Lucian – are all located on the northwestern section of the island. La Toc is the closest to the main airport and about an hour drive away. Grande Saint Lucian, the farthest of the three resorts, is about an hour and 45 minutes from the airport. Halycon is in the middle.
In this article, we are going to focus on Sandals La Toc and Sandals Grande Saint Lucian. The great thing with Sandals is the stay at one play at three feature. Guests can visit all three resorts with shuttles that run every two hours and eat, play, relax, and enjoy the hotels.
Saint Lucia Resort Transfers
There are three main ways to get to the resorts from the airport. Sandals offers transfers that are included in your package. These are small taxis that accommodate about three couples. You can upgrade to a private car if you prefer.
The second option is a helicopter transfer. You can take it one way or round trip. This is a lot of fun and can start your trip off with an amazing activity where you will have a great view of the island from the air. It is also faster than the drive. You can bring a carry-on with you that is under 25 pounds and that is advisable since the rest of your luggage may take a while to come. Be sure you have what you need for the beach or dinner depending on arrival time.
The third and newest option is the ferry. I’m not sure that this is really faster, but it can be an alternative and fun way to travel. The ferry has specific schedules and doesn’t always run, so consider those factors.
Sandals La Toc
Sandals La Toc is actually the largest of the three properties and that is mainly because it also has a nine hole golf course. This resort is built into the side of the mountain and has lots of great views from different levels throughout the resort, which makes it very interesting. When you are up on the mountain side, it almost feels like you are in a different place than when you are down by the beach. The beach is a decent length, but not overly deep. Everyone can have a nice view of the cove that the resort is on. The water is calm and you can see cruise ships that are anchored off shore.
With all its nooks and crannies, it is a great resort to relax at. There are nice accommodations with amazing views up on the mountain. Some locations have a sundeck if you want to enjoy the views from the privacy of your room. There are plenty of excursions that leave from this area as well.
Sandals Grande Saint Lucian
Sandals Grande Saint Lucian is an amazing resort for activities. Although it is technically smaller, it feels larger as it is spread out and on more than one level. This resort is also on a cove that offers calm waters. It has a great marina and offers all the water sports, such as water skiing, dive boats, and snorkeling, right from the resort marina.
This resort also has a few more restaurants than La Toc. From restaurants right on the beach (no shoes required) to Gordon’s on the Pier, this resort has food for everyone. It also has a larger English pub than the other properties and an Indian restaurant.
Grande also boasts some of the most luxurious accommodations such as the Rondovals and OverWater Bungalows. Both of these accommodations include butler service. Rondovals are rooms in the round that have a private outdoor hot tub, plunge pool, hammock, and seating area.
The OverWater Bungalows have a window to the ocean at the foot of the bed so you can watch the fish from inside your room. Outside you have a deck area that has loungers and tables, a ladder down to the ocean, and your snorkel equipment ready to go.
With both of these accommodations and your butler, you can check in and never leave your room. It’s a great way to reconnect and enjoy your time with that special someone. Of course, if you want to take advantage of all the resort amenities, they are just a few steps away.
Sandals Saint Lucia
