Disney Dining Plan Tips

June 1, 2024 by Allison Sandberg

The Disney Dining Plan is amazing and we are so excited Disney is offering it again! Here are the details and terminology to help you navigate the dining plans.

Totcho’s & Brisket Melt at Woody’s Lunch Box, Hollywood Studios (Quick Service)

Disney Snacks

Snacks are a MUST and are some of the best parts of a Disney vacation. Can you really go to Disney and NOT get a Disney ice cream?! Here are some of our favorite snacks that you won’t want to miss.

  • Churros
  • Mickey Premium Bar
  • Dole Whip
  • Mickey Pretzel
  • Popcorn (the refillable buckets are a great value and the special release ones are amazing! )*Rebillable buckets are not counted as a snack on the dining plan.
  • Beignets (at Port Orleans French Quarter, resort)

Quick Service Meals

A quick service meal is a counter service meal. Typically you do not have a server for a quick service meal and they tend to be a faster service than a “table service” meal. You can order your meal at the counter OR you can use Mobile Order and spend less time waiting in lines. There are some great healthy options as well as vegan/vegetarian options in addition to your typical burgers and kid friendly options, ie mac n cheese. Allergy friendly options can be found on the bottom of the menu on your My Disney Experience app. If you are ordering in person let them know first that you need to order an allergy friendly meal and they will assist you.

A quick service meal on the dining plan includes 1 entree and 1 nonalcoholic beverage (or alcoholic beverage for guests 21 and older)

Table Service Meals

Sit down meals with a server are referred to as a “table service meal”. These can be an enjoyable addition after a long day of walking around the parks or even to escape the heat during the hotter months. Enjoying a table service meal is one of the greatest parts of a Disney vacation. Table Service locations are everywhere from the parks to the resorts. Visiting another resort for a meal can be a lot of fun too and a great way to see the other Disney hotels. The table service meals are a la cárte, buffet, family style, or prix fixe menu. Prix fixe is a complete meal offered at a fixed price and often has a limited menu. Many table service restaurants also have character dining options.

Typically table service requires a reservation. Occasionally during slower park days, you can walk up and be added to their list. However, if that restaurant is on your MUST DINE list, a reservation is recommended. A credit card is required to hold the reservation but will not be charged unless you are a no-show for your reservation. Cinderella’s Royal Table is the exception and must be pre-paid when you make the reservation and includes gratuity.

On the dining plan, a table service meal includes 1 entree, buffet, or family style meal and 1 non alcoholic beverage (or alcoholic beverage for guests 21 and older) If the meal is lunch or dinner it will also include a dessert.

Table Service Meal Tips

  • Prices vary for table service meals
  • Check in up to 15 mins prior to your reservation using your My Disney Experience app. This can be done when you are close to the dining location.
  • There is character dining in the parks and character dining at resorts.

  • Some meals such as Fairytale Dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table, Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (lunch/dinner), Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White, Be our Guest, Signature Dining locations, and Dinner Shows will require the use of 2 dining credits per person.

Resort Refillable Mug

A refillable mug is included in all the dining plans. The mugs can be refilled at the resorts only with options ranging from soda, lemonade, iced teas, and not beverages (these may vary slightly by resort). These cups are activated at purchase and are a nice souvenir. The mugs can be brought to the park but will not receive free refills.

Dining Plan Types

The different dining plans are made up of combinations of snack, quick service, and table service quantities. They all include a resort refillable mug and they are all based on the number of people and the number of nights of your trip.

Quick Service Dining Plan

Everyone in the travel party that is age 3 and up will get the following per night of their stay:

  • 2 Quick Service Meals per night

  • 1 resort refillable mug per person

These are totalled up and available from check in until the end of the day of departure. If you have a 4 night stay, you would receive 8 quick service meals and 4 snacks per person.
